VISA AND RESIDENCE PERMIT

Outgoing exchange students are responsible for their visa and residence permit applications. They should keep in mind that getting a visa and residence permit can take up to 6 weeks.

TUITION

Paying the regular Bilkent tuition or having a scholarship covers the tuition abroad, but the students are responsible for:

– Travel
– Accommodation
– Living expenses
– Visa
– Health insurance
– Residence permit

ACCOMODATION

Our exchange partners usually arrange or help in arranging housing for the incoming students. This requires that outgoing students apply with special accommodation reservation forms well in advance. Sometimes a small housing deposit has to be paid beforehand.

ERASMUS GRANT

An Erasmus grant is available to only some outgoing students to assist with the extra costs of studying and living abroad. Bilkent University does not guarantee financial aid to all outgoing exchange students. The number of students who receive Erasmus grant depends on the budget received form the National Agency. That’s why, only some students with higher rankings will be able to receive Erasmus grant.

The amount of the grant may vary from year to year – it is set by the National Agency, and is calculated on the basis of the length of the Erasmus period.

The grant is usually paid in two installments – the first normally comprises approximately two thirds of the total grant, with the second comprising the remaining third.
