Following his graduation from Robert College, he was admitted to Istanbul Technical University where he had his B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering in 1981. He received his M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University in 1983 and Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1987. Currently, he is a professor of OM and the Vice Rector in charge of administrative and financial affairs at Bilkent University.
