Professor Emre Berk received his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering at Bogazici University. With a Fulbright Scholarship, he received his M.S. degree in mechanical engineering at Washington State University. He continued his education in Management at University of Washington receiving his MBA and his PhD in Operations Management. Dr. Berk has taught courses at the undergraduate, MBA, doctoral, executive MBA and executive education levels at University of Washington, Bilkent University, Middle East Technical University, MIT at Zaragoza and Texas A&M University. His teaching and research interests are perishable inventory management, value chain management, production planning, sustainable operations and carbon economies. His research has been funded by the NSF and TÜBİTAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) and appeared in journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, IIE Transactions, Naval Research Logistics, European Journal of Operational Research, OR Letters, International Journal of Production Economics and IISE Transactions. He has served as an Associate Editor for IIE Transactions and is currently an Associate Editor for IISE Transactions. He has also co-authored book chapters on inventory theory, bayesian statistics and queueing systems.
